This last weekend we spent a lovely weekend in the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park. I was lucky enough to win a voucher for a nights accommodation at Glentanner Park last year with this photo of an iceberg in the Tasman Glacier lake. Glentanner is a great place to stay – a handy short drive to Mount Cook National Park.
The weather was spectacular, although the top of Aoraki was cloaked in cloud for most of our stay. We made the most of the great weather and went on a couple of walks and for a trip with Tasman Glacier Tours. This was heaps of fun, although I was disappointed not to see a large iceberg up close like the one I’d taken a photo of last time (with a long lens standing on the side of the lake).
Of course, no trip to that part of the country is complete in my books without a stop in Tekapo. It’s such a lovely restful place to stay, and a great place to practice your night photography (Tekapo is an international dark sky reserve).
All in all, a fantastic weekend away 🙂
I love the last photo.
Thank you 🙂
Beautiful pictures.
Thank you. We’re lucky, it’s a beautiful country 🙂
Love the night shot!
Thanks 🙂
Beautiful location and great shots. I like the variety of images and human element in some of these too, such as the arm close up and the fish and chips with the ketchup!
Thanks 🙂 It was a fantastic trip. Seems like they always go too fast, but nice to look back over the photos
